The Stone House - Santorini
A beautifully restored Santorini villa with private pool
Tucked away in the heart of the peaceful and traffic free village Megalochori, this charming little villa is a gentle 150 meter stroll up a foot path from the village square. The villas name derives from the exterior of the house, which is clad in local volcanic stone.
The village itself makes a welcome and peaceful alternative to the busy tourist attractions of Fira and Oia and is also protected from the sometimes strong Cycladic winds.
The Stone House can only be described as a ‘small treasure’. The newly renovated villa, originally a ‘canava’, was once used to produce the sweet nectar-like dessert wine, ‘Vin Santo’, which is unique to the island of Santorini. Two cylindrical troughs, once used for distilling the wine, have been preserved to make unusual interior light features.
The enclosed cobbled courtyard has a private plunge pool which doubles as a Jacuzzi with four massage jets to one side of the pool. The ‘canava’ has one open-plan room, which serves as a sitting room and bedroom, with a small kitchenette to the front of the villa. The spacious Moroccan style bathroom boasts with hand-crafted brass fittings and has a stone banquette and large shower.
The Stone House is perfect for a couple that are looking for a small, traditional and uniquely Santorinian home on the island.
On arrival at Santorini airport or port, you will be escorted to the villa and a porter will take care of your luggage to make sure your vacation starts with arrival on Santorini island.
A daily housekeeping service of 2 hours is included.
Catering of any meals can be arranged through the nearby tavern owned by the management of this stunning villa. Additional services like tour guide, private masseuse, shopping and delivery service are available upon request.
