Exquisite Villa above Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia, Greece
Personal Review (visited 2012)
Myrtos Beach is indisputably one of the most impressive beaches in Greece. The high cliffs with spotlessly clean white sand to their feet, blending into the dark blue sea creating misty waves of turquoise colour, are a unique picture seen only on the west-coast of the Ionian islands. This magnificent view is reserved to those driving along the road above the coastline as there are no houses that offer this spectacular view. No houses apart from this one!
Nestled in a curve right next to the road, on a small rocky patch, this villa thrones high above the beaches on either side. On entering the luxurious villa, I didn't have a clue what a view to expect.
A modern atmosphere combined with high quality furnishings and select pieces of art welcomed me, providing a relaxed atmosphere with amazing sea view from all rooms.
A spacious living room, a state of the art kitchen with all modern amenities as well as a wood-fired pizza oven, a cinema room and a bedroom with en-suite bathroom make up the ground floor. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, again with en-suite bathrooms and verandas offering uninterrupted sea view.
To the side of the property is a lovely guest house designed similarly to the main house, offering a bedroom with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom.
The highlight of the villa is however the veranda with the Jacuzzi. The moment I walked out onto the veranda, I was taken aback by the jaw-dropping view that not only reaches as far as I could see into the distance, but also down to the two beaches on each side with the turquoise waters playfully changing colour depending on tide and wind. From now on it is clear that this is where I will spend my time and only human necessities will make me go back inside. The view is just too captivating.
The stone-built infinity Jacuzzi offers another incomparable view where the borders of water, sea and horizon merge. The view is so amazing that I nearly lost the urge to actually go down to Myrtos Beach.
On windy nights, or for a couple that wishes to retreat to total privacy from the rest of the group, there is a little stone-built cottage a few meters down the slope. It reminds me of a little shelter, but the inside is cosy and romantic. Outside, a stone built sitting area with a somehow royal look invites to enjoy a glass of Ouzo as the sun sets on the horizon, giving way to a starry sky hard to find elsewhere.
Facilities: All bedrooms and the living-room have air-conditioning. There is WiFi Internet and Sat-TV with French as well as English channels in the cinema room and the master bedroom. The laundry house is equipped with a washing machine, dryer and ironing board.
This luxurious villa is the perfect place for a small group of friends or a family with elder children that are looking for something exceptional. Ideal for honeymooner (you may want to consider not showing the photos to keep it a surprise) or couples that like something top-notch.
