Beaches & Walks
There are many beaches and walks to enjoy in the local area. Beautiful pine forests, mountains, olive-groves and river valleys that surround the Countryside Estate offer a rich variety for walks in the forest, up the mountain, along the river bed, which dries out in summer, or along the coast.
Beaches on Evia vary in character. The closest beach is only 5 minutes drive, and within half an hour there are other numerous beaches. The West coast is generally calmer with wonderful clear waters.
Kria Vrisi Beach (5 km from the villa): Long and beautiful sandy beach nestled among two rivers looking towards the Aegean Sea. Kria Vrisi is an archaeological site as well as the beach is located nearby the ruins of the ancient city of Kirinthos, which is part of the Greek Mythology. There is and old taverna on the beach that provides delicious food.
Aghia Anna Beach: Angali Beach or Aghia Anna Beach has a length of 3-4 Kms. The sea is very clean and usually calm, however it faces towards the Aegean Sea which can get rough in August. In Angali there is a campsite, horse riding school, some hotels, bars, cafeterias, ouzeri - restaurants and tavernas.
Drymonas Waterfall: 35 mins from the Villa is an area covered with rich fauna and magnificent scenery. On the top of the bed of the ravine you will see the amazing site of the water falls.

Monasteries & Churches
Whether you focus on churches, monasteries, or any other interesting cultural sites of interest, you certainly will not be disappointed.
St John the Russian: 15 mins from the Villa, St. John the Russian is a wonderfully preserved church in the village of Prokopi, which houses ancient relics brought by refugees from Asia Minor. The memory of Saint John (Ivan) the Russian is celebrated on the 27th of May and constitutes one of the most important pilgrims in Greece.
35 mins away from the Villa is the historical Convent of St. David or Osios David. It was built on the foot of Kavalaris Mountain in an altitude of 500 meters. The Convent was built during the 16th century by Holy David himself, on the pre-existent ruins of the ancient church of Christ's Transfiguration.
Towns & Villages
Heaps of towns and villages are worth visiting, so the below is only a tiny bit of the most interesting sites.
15 mins from the Villa is the traditional village Agia Anna, surrounded by forests and running waters. Also known as Ayana which is really one of the most charming parts of the island as it retains its traditional style, its customs and country fairs. A visit to the Folklore Museum of the village is mandatory. The neighbouring beach Angali is also attractive with its extensive sands.
Artemisio is 1 hour and 15 mins from the Countryside Mansion. The village on the north coast of the island, is famed as the scene of the first naval victory of the Greek fleet over the Persians in 480 B.C. Artemision is a cape, looking across the straits towards Mt Pelion. The old name of the village was "Kourbatsi" but was renamed Artemisio in honour of the goddess Artemis whose temple was situated in the area of St. George Monastery. A tour of the village, where there are still houses dated from the Turkish domination, is worthwhile. The view is breathtaking as one can see as far as Mt Pelion and the Sporades islands.
Limni a really charming fishing village with a long history and well preserved traditions whose white houses are reflected in the waters of the Gulf of Euboea. This picturesque port town of Limni offers a variety of seafood restaurants located on the seafront as well as nightlife venues. Sites worth visiting are the excellent mosaics of the early Christian church, the Chapel of Zoodokhos Pigi and the well-known convent of Galataki.
Lichada, Gialtra and Agios Georgios are all fishing villages surrounded by pine forests, famous for their quality wines.
