Luxury Villa with Sea View on Alonissos

Our personal review (visited 2010)

This luxury villa on Alonissos is certainly the biggest villa on Alonissos and the location is ideal for those who wish to walk to the beach during the day and to the taverns of the old town in the evening.

The veranda is huge and has a stunning view over the valley of pine forest and the sea beyond. In fact, the villa is so big, I had to take 4 photos with a wide-angle lens and stitch them together to produce one photo of the entire villa. Down a flight of steps, the pool area offers additional space that is partially shaded by a pergola with double-bed sized chill-out matrasses and a more formal sitting area. The pool is equally large and tempts us to indulge.

The interior and décor of the villa represents a successful blend of traditional Greek architecture and the owners connection to China, featuring high-quality hardwood furniture and select pieces of art; all personally chosen and imported. The so produced atmosphere interconnects strongly through the many french doors with the serenity and lush vegetation outside. The result: A serene, elegant and private haven on an unrevealed island.

Sleeping arrangements: The villa has 5 bedrooms but some sleep more than 2 people because of additional beds. For example, one bedroom has 2 double beds; others have an additional single bed. A fully equipped cinema room (projector, Dolby Surround sound) is furnished with 2 sofas that open into 2 double beds and a single day bed sleeps a 5th person. Please note that all beds are full sized beds for adults.

Another highlight of the villa is the fully equipped kitchen. It is spacious, modern and indeed fully equipped. A 6 ring stove with oven, dishwasher and pretty much all the cooking utensils you can imagine, allow passionate cooks to reproduce local dishes even for large groups.

About Alonissos

The island of Alonissos lies in some of the cleanest waters in the Aegean and beyond. The beaches are mostly pebble and shingle quickly graduating to sand in the water. They are commonly found in sheltered coves making the crystal clear turquoise waters calm and ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Some of the more secluded and remote beaches are most easily reached by boat. A number of beaches such as Megalos Mourtias and particularly Georgi Yialos are shallow for quite a distance; perfect for paddling and playing games.

The picturesque village Palia Alonissos was the old capital of Alonissos until it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1965. Many houses have now been restored into beautiful homes or transformed into charming restaurants, cafés or shops.

The Old Village with its whitewashed houses, narrow stone paths and winding steps is a feast for the eyes. At the summit of the Village is an enchanting street lined with restaurants and boutiques; perched at the very end of this street is a cafe serving authentic Greek sweets and ice cream with breathtaking views.

Amble along the thoroughfare and you will stumble upon many colourful shops selling individual handcrafted jewellery, clothes, art and gifts, mostly from local artists.

The walk to the top of the Palia Alonissos is delightful and surviving Byzantine churches like the chapel of Agio Anargyroi and the church of Agios Andreas are worth visiting. Parts of old Byzantine walls restored by the Venetians to fortify the city have also survived the Earthquake.

Booking Procedure: 25% booking deposit on booking, 75% 6 weeks prior to arrival.
A refundable security deposit of 1000 Euro is required with the final balance.
