Villa Io - Santorini

Tucked away in a secluded alcove of Megalochori, only a 100 meter stroll away from the village square, Villa Io provides privacy and an ideal hide-away. Built into the volcanic rock, the Villa once served as the village school to the local children. Today the interior is all white with beautiful arched interiors – the thing dreams of a Greek Island home is made of.  The outdoor area is private and the hand-laid cobbled courtyard, complemented by a glistening pool, provides the perfect outdoor space for lazing around on hot summer days.

The layout of the villa takes the form of the traditional Santorini houses. The floors throughout the villa are traditional polished cement and are covered with rugs adding a cool and sophisticated air to the interior. As the village of Megalochori is surrounded by vineyards, the villa continues with this theme with unusual light fittings fashioned out of the basket-like vines. 

The farm-style kitchen is large and fully equipped with modern appliances, an antique dinning table and beautifully crafted chairs. Cutlery and crockery are housed in an ornate antique dresser, adding an old-world charm to the kitchen. 

The original double wooden doors open up into a single room and a staircase leads you up to a delightful den. The latter is best suited for children over 6, due to its size, narrow access and the sense of a loft hide-away. 

Through an arched passageway, leading from the kitchen, you will find the comfortably appointed living room with doors leading out to the courtyard and pool. Doors lead from the lounge to a comfortable double bedroom. The open-space bathroom has a large shower, marble vanity, beautifully restored towel rails and a separate restroom.

This traditional Villa ensures tranquility, privacy and a taste of village life. Villa Io is ideal for families wanting to experience the true island life-style of days gone by without compromising on comfort.

On arrival at Santorini airport or port, you will be escorted to the villa and a porter will take care of your luggage to make sure your vacation starts with arrival on Santorini island.

It goes without saying that a daily housekeeping service of 2 hours is included.

To visit Santorini’s most famous tourist attractions like Fira and Oia, 7 and 20 km away respectively, a 5-seat rental car is at your disposal throughout your stay and already included in the price.

Catering of any meals can be arranged through the nearby tavern owned by the management of this stunning villa. Additional services like tour guide, private masseuse, shopping and delivery service are available upon request.
